Don’t Make A New Years Resolution List
Don’t make a new years resolution list? Now why would you tell someone that?
When I say don’t make a list, I am saying to you to be honest with your self. Every year, without fail, so many people slack off all year putting things off when all of a sudden it is the end of the year and they have not done what they said and wanted to do. I will do it tomorrow. I don’t have time this week. All are very bad excuses. I say stop lieing to your self and don’t make a huge list of 100 or so things you want to accomplish at years end. Chances are you will not complete even 20% of those.
Now before you stop reading and start thinking “this guy is a moron”, think about this question.
Why do you never complete that list?
It is way to big.
I have been reading blog post after blog post on the list of 100 things I want to accomplish this year. When I see these I think how many of these will they really complete. Here is my solution. I really think you should give it a try or let me know what you think of it.
Make a shorter list. Yes, I do think that it will be that easy. When you finish that list, make another shorter list. I would suggest including no more than 5 items on that list. Make all the items either relate to one another or something you can complete along side or with another. Reducing the list to a smaller number will greatly help you focus on completing the items instead of thinking about many you have completed and that huge amount of items left. I believe it will become even easier once you have completed a couple lists and start realizing how easy it is to become more organized and accomplish more then you have ever on a new years resolution list.
