Mozilla Labs : Introducing Ubiquity

Mozilla Labs : Ubiquity

If you have not visited Mozilla Labs then you need to stop what your doing and go visit. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

Ok, now besides having a well designed layout, this extension of Mozilla’s main site is just amazing. It shows you many new projects that they are coming up with and in current development. Many are available for beta downloads.

One of the recent projects I have installed is a little extension to your browser called Ubiquity. This extension makes it possible to accomplish many tasks while emailing people that would normally even take a tech, programming savvy type of person like me a while to do.

With Ubiquity you can do some of the following :

  • Search for a location and insert a google map into your email (no copy and paste or writing of code)
  • Search for what people are saying about restaurants and etc.
  • Highlight text in another language from a website, translate and highlite errors and automatically open up a new email with any one you specify.

There are many more features you will have to watch the video to learn about. Once you install the extension, you will have a tutorial video pop up to show you how to use it.

If you have ever used Quicksilver before to open up programs, then this will be very easy for you to use. You have change the short cut key to pull it up with. Ubiquity comes default as ( alt + space )

Here are some extra links about Ubiquity :

Mozilla has compiled a suggestion list for possible Ubiquity Commands.

For a small business owner, a simple chance conversation can be an opportunity to drum up new business for your company. Asking what someone does for a living is part of a polite conversation, and it gives you the opportunity to give your elevator pitch. If you aren’t familiar with the terminology, an elevator pitch is just a brief explanation of what you do — and how you can help your audience.

Useful Firefox 3 Configuration Tweaks

Firefox 3 comes with several preferences baked into its options dialogs, but there are still a few you can only access by rolling up your sleeves and digging into its configuration manually. Power users have been diving under Firefox’s hood to get their browser to behave just how they like since version 0.9, but Firefox 3 offers some new settings that customize its new features …

Temporary Theme

I decided to install a free Word Press Template while I can find some time to make one my self.

I figured if I could atleast install wordpress and get a template going that I could start writing while I start designing. This could help me get the site going before the actuall design gets pushed out.
